DRAINAGE
With the recent flooding Auckland has experienced, good stormwater management and catchment is a must, if you are to prevent flooding.
A cesspit or catchpit or sump is a drainage system used primarily in stormwater management.
A cesspit sometimes combined with a driveway channel grate will catch surface water and feed it into the stormwater piping system.
A cesspit can often be feed by a corrugated pipe (Nova Coil) with perforated holes in it to collect ground water to prevent ponding and also stop water running under buildings.
